Privacy & Data Protection Policy
Last updated: September 11, 2026
Welcome to Laive. This Privacy & Data Protection Policy (“Privacy Policy”) explains how Laive Technologies Ltd(“Laive,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects personal data when you access or use our website, applications, AI-powered conversational experiences, pilot programs, and related services (together, the “Service”).
Laive Technologies Ltd is the data controller responsible for the personal data described in this Privacy Policy, unless otherwise stated.
We are committed to handling personal data responsibly and in accordance with applicable data-protection laws, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (“UK GDPR”) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. About LAIVE
Laive is an AI-native platform that enables personalized, AI-powered conversational and thinking experiences shaped by the perspectives, experiences, knowledge, and ways of thinking of participating experts, mentors, coaches, and other individuals (“Minds”).
Minds may be presented through AI-generated text, voice, avatars, or other conversational interfaces.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, users interacting with a Mind through Laive are interacting with an AI-powered digital representation, rather than communicating directly or live with the represented individual.
Laive is currently in an early-access and pilot stage. The Service and our technology may evolve as we develop the product. Where material changes affect how we process personal data, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide additional information or choices where required by law.
2. Personal Data We Collect
Depending on how you interact with Laive, we may collect and process the following categories of personal data.
Account and Identity Information
This may include your name, email address, account details, login or authentication information, and other information you provide when creating or managing an account.
Conversation and Interaction Data
When you use Laive, we may process information associated with your conversations and interactions, including:
prompts, questions, and messages you submit;
conversation transcripts and history;
AI-generated responses associated with your conversations;
audio or voice input where voice functionality is available;
information you voluntarily provide during conversations; and
information about how you interact with particular Minds or features.
Personalization and Preference Data
We may process information about your interests, goals, preferences, conversation history, selected Minds, previous interactions, and other relevant signals to personalize your experience and provide relevant recommendations or continuity between interactions.
Some of this information may be inferred from how you use the Service rather than provided directly by you.
Pilot, Research, and Feedback Data
If you participate in a pilot, survey, interview, research activity, or feedback program, we may collect survey responses, ratings, comments, product feedback, interview responses, and information about your experience with the Service.
Technical and Usage Data
We may automatically collect technical and usage information, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, timestamps, pages or features accessed, session information, interaction events, error logs, performance data, and similar technical information.
Communications and Marketing Information
If you contact us or subscribe to communications, we may process your name, contact details, communications with us, newsletter or marketing preferences, and information relating to your interaction with communications we send.
Mind and Contributor Data
If you participate in Laive as a Mind, expert, contributor, or other represented individual, we may process information such as your:
name and professional information;
biography and areas of expertise;
interviews and questionnaire responses;
perspectives, experiences, opinions, and preferred positioning;
photographs and video;
voice recordings and audio;
image, voice, and likeness;
materials, publications, content, or other information you provide or authorize us to use;
consent, authorization, and verification records; and
information necessary to create, operate, test, improve, and manage your digital representation.
Additional terms, permissions, licenses, or agreements may apply to participating Minds and contributors.
3. Sensitive and Special Category Data
Laive does not generally require users to provide special category personal data to use the Service.
However, conversations with AI-powered Minds may be open-ended. You may therefore voluntarily disclose information relating to health, racial or ethnic origin, religious or philosophical beliefs, political opinions, sexual orientation, or other information that may constitute special category data under UK data-protection law.
We encourage you not to provide sensitive personal information unless it is relevant and you are comfortable doing so.
Where Laive intentionally processes special category data, we will do so only where we have an appropriate lawful basis and an additional condition for processing as required by applicable law.
Photographs, video, voice recordings, and similar information are not automatically biometric special category dataunder UK GDPR. If we use biometric data resulting from specific technical processing for the purpose of uniquely identifying an individual, we will comply with the additional legal requirements applicable to that processing.
4. How and Why We Use Personal Data
We may use personal data to:
create, maintain, and secure user accounts;
provide and operate the Service;
generate and deliver AI-powered conversations;
maintain conversation history and continuity where applicable;
personalize conversations, recommendations, and user experiences;
create and operate authorized digital representations of participating Minds;
administer pilots, testing programs, surveys, and research;
understand how users interact with Laive;
measure engagement and product performance;
internally evaluate, optimize, develop, and improve the Service;
improve conversation quality, personalization, reliability, and user experience;
identify and troubleshoot technical problems;
protect users, Minds, Laive, and the Service from misuse, fraud, security threats, and unlawful activity;
respond to questions, requests, and support inquiries;
send operational or service-related communications;
send marketing or newsletter communications where permitted by law;
comply with legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations; and
establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
We do not sell personal data or private conversation data. We do not publish private conversations or make them publicly available. We do not use private conversation data to train third-party or general-purpose large language models.
5. Our Lawful Bases for Processing
Under UK data-protection law, we must have a lawful basis for processing personal data.
Depending on the particular processing activity, we may rely on:
Contract — where processing is necessary to provide the Service you request or to take steps at your request before entering into a contract.
Legitimate interests — where processing is necessary for our legitimate interests or those of a third party and those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests. This may include operating, securing, evaluating, and improving Laive; understanding product usage; conducting pilot analysis; preventing fraud and abuse; and managing our business and technology.
Consent — where you have given us consent for a particular purpose, such as certain marketing communications or specific uses of recordings, voice, image, likeness, or other materials where consent is the appropriate lawful basis.
Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before consent was withdrawn.
Legal obligation — where processing is necessary for us to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation.
Where special category data is processed, we will also identify and rely on an appropriate additional condition under applicable data-protection law.
6. Artificial Intelligence and Private Conversation Data
Artificial intelligence is central to the Laive Service. Information you provide during conversations is processed as necessary to generate responses, personalize your experience, and provide the Service.
AI-generated responses may be influenced by information associated with the relevant Mind, the context of your conversation, your previous interactions where applicable, and other information used to personalize your experience.
Your conversations are private. Laive does not sell your conversation data, publish it, make it publicly available, or use it to train third-party or general-purpose AI models or large language models (LLMs).
Where third-party technology providers are required to deliver specific functionality, relevant data may be processed by those providers solely as necessary to provide the Service and subject to appropriate contractual, technical, and data-protection safeguards.
We do not authorize our service providers to use your private conversation data to train their general-purpose AI or language models.
Laive may use conversation and interaction data internally where reasonably necessary to operate, evaluate, optimize, secure, and improve Laive. This may include reviewing or analyzing interactions to improve conversation quality, personalization, product performance, safety, reliability, and user experience.
Access to identifiable conversation data for these purposes is limited to what is reasonably necessary and subject to appropriate access controls and confidentiality measures. Where appropriate, we may use aggregated or anonymized information for product analysis and development.
Private conversations are not made publicly available or distributed on the internet by Laive. We do not provide participating Minds or other users with access to your private conversations unless we expressly tell you otherwise or you choose to share them.
How We Handle and Disclose Personal Data
We do not sell, publish, distribute, or commercially share your personal data or private conversations with third parties.
Personal data is used by Laive only for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including providing, securing, personalizing, evaluating, and internally optimizing the Service.
Certain technology providers may process limited personal data on Laive's behalf where this is technically necessary to operate the Service, for example to provide secure cloud infrastructure or AI-powered functionality. These providers act solely to provide services to Laive and are subject to applicable contractual, confidentiality, security, and data-protection requirements.
We do not authorize service providers to sell, publish, independently use, or use your private conversation data to train general-purpose AI or large language models.
We may disclose personal data where we are legally required to do so, such as in response to a valid legal obligation, court order, or lawful request from an authorized public authority.
8. International Data Transfers
Some of the technology providers that support Laive may process personal data outside the United Kingdom where technically necessary to provide the Service.
Where this occurs, Laive takes appropriate steps to ensure that personal data is protected and transferred in accordance with applicable data-protection laws and appropriate safeguards.
International processing does not change how we use your data: we do not sell, publish, or distribute private conversation data, and we do not authorize its use to train general-purpose AI or large language models.
Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including providing, personalizing, securing, evaluating, and improving the Service and satisfying applicable legal, regulatory, accounting, or reporting requirements.
The appropriate retention period may depend on factors such as:
whether you maintain an active account;
the nature and sensitivity of the information;
whether information is required to provide conversation history, continuity, or personalization;
the duration and purpose of a pilot or research program;
security and technical requirements;
contractual requirements;
applicable legal, tax, accounting, or regulatory obligations; and
applicable limitation periods for legal claims.
When personal data is no longer required, we may delete, anonymize, or otherwise securely dispose of it in accordance with applicable law and our technical capabilities.
Data Security and Confidentiality
We use appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
These measures may include access controls, authentication, encryption where appropriate, secure infrastructure, monitoring, restricted internal access, and contractual safeguards with relevant service providers.
Access to private conversation data within Laive is limited to circumstances where access is reasonably necessary for legitimate operational, security, support, evaluation, or product-improvement purposes.
People with authorized access are expected to handle such information confidentially and in accordance with applicable internal requirements.
No internet-based service or technical system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are also responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and should notify us if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
11. Your Data Protection Rights
Depending on your circumstances, you may have rights under applicable data-protection law, including the right to:
access personal data we hold about you;
correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data;
request deletion of your personal data in certain circumstances;
restrict processing in certain circumstances;
object to processing based on legitimate interests in certain circumstances;
object to direct marketing at any time;
request data portability where applicable;
withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent; and
complain to a data-protection authority.
These rights are not absolute and may be subject to legal conditions or exemptions.
If you wish to exercise a right, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before completing your request.
If you are in the United Kingdom, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
12. Age Restrictions and Appropriate Use
The Service is intended for individuals aged 18 or older.
Laive provides AI-powered conversational experiences for informational, educational, personal-development, and related purposes. Laive is not a therapy, mental-health treatment, medical, or crisis-support service and should not be used as a substitute for professional care.
The Service is not designed for individuals experiencing a mental-health emergency, crisis, or circumstances requiring professional clinical support. If you believe you may require such support, you should seek assistance from an appropriately qualified professional or relevant emergency or crisis service rather than relying on Laive.
By using the Service, you acknowledge that AI-powered conversations are not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, psychiatric, or therapeutic advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
13. Marketing Communications
Where permitted by law, we may send you newsletters, product updates, invitations, or other marketing communications.
Where consent is required, we will obtain it before sending such communications.
You may unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time using the unsubscribe option provided in the communication or by contacting us.
You may still receive necessary account, security, or service-related communications after opting out of marketing.
14. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may contain links to websites, services, or content operated independently by third parties.
Where you choose to interact directly with an independent third-party service, its own privacy practices may apply. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of independent third parties acting as their own data controllers.
This is separate from technology providers that process information on Laive's behalf to enable the functionality of the Service, as described above.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as Laive, our technology, our Service, or applicable legal requirements evolve.
Where changes materially affect how we process your personal data or your rights, we will take reasonable steps to notify you and, where required by law, obtain consent or provide additional choices.
The “Last updated” date at the top of this Privacy Policy indicates when it was most recently revised.
